If you live within the library district, just bring in your identification (like a driver’s license) and proof of your physical address (not your mailing address, but the address of your home/property) and fill out an application! There is no charge for a card for patrons who live within the library district.

The library offers several different options for patrons who live outside the district. If you are visiting the area for a short amount of time and want a temporary card (from the time you sign up until the end of the current year) there is a fee of $10. If you would like to use the library more often you can get an out-of-area card for a one-time fee of $25. This will give you access to all library services for life. If you have a library card from your home library (in Idaho) and they participate in the LiLI Express reciprocal borrowing program, you can get a free card with us! You must bring in your identification to get any of these types of library cards.

Children of all ages may get a library card but a parent or guardian must fill out and sign the application for the child. The rules for card types are the same for children and adults, so cards are free to those in the district and there is a fee for out of district cards. Parents must provide proof of address and identification to obtain a library card for their child. Parents must also be accountable for any fines, fees, damage to materials or missing materials.

Families may choose to share a single card, but there is a borrowing limit of 5 total items per card for the first year.

There is a replacement fee of $2 for all library card types.

All books have a two week lending period. Patrons may request a renewal for up to two additional two week lending periods for a total of six weeks. We do not automatically renew materials, so patrons must let the library staff know (see below for renewal contact information) if they would like to renew a book for two weeks before the due date.

All movies have a one week lending period. We do not renew movies.

There is a drop box in the entry area of the library that is accessible 24 hours per day, including weekends and holidays. Patrons my drop library materials in the box any time, but if materials are dropped in the box after hours on the day the item(s) are due, there may be an overdue fine.

You may stop by the library during regular hours or you can call the library at 347-3147. You can also request a renewal by sending an email to [email protected]. Please be sure to include your name and that you are requesting a renewal in the body of the email.

The library charges .10¢ per day per book when they are overdue.

The library does not charge overdue fees when we are closed for weekends or holidays.

You will need to pay for the cost of the item, plus a $3 processing fee or replace the item and just pay the $3 processing fee. We always try to work with patrons, so be sure to let us know the situation and we may be able to make a trade or allow you additional time to find missing items.

While we hope patrons are taking good care of borrowed library items, we understand that sometimes book spines wear out or movies stop working. Please be sure to point out any damage to library staff. Patrons are not charged for standard ‘wear and tear’. However, if you dropped it in the bathtub or your dog decided to ‘taste’ it, we can work with patrons to get the item replaced.

Overdue materials will continue to accrue fines until they reach the actual cost of the item.

Overdue fines are our way of ‘gently reminding’ patrons to return borrowed items. We appreciate patrons paying fines in a timely manner. If your fines are less than $3, you can continue to borrow items and pay your fines at your next visit. If you have large fines or missing/damaged items, we will not be able to loan you any additional items until fines are paid or missing/damaged items are returned or paid for.

Yes! The library has several computers with Internet access that patrons can use. These computers can be used for checking email, searching on the Internet, word processing, etc. Illegal and innappropriate activities are strictly forbidden. Transmission of any material in violation of any U.S. or state regulations is prohibited. Prohibited materials include, but are not limited to: copyrighted material, threatenting material and/or obscene material.

Before using library computers for the first time, patrons must register with the library attendant and have read and signed the Computer Technology Center Use Agreement.

The use of computers will be limited to 1/2 hour time slots. Patrons may request an additional 1/2 hour if not other patrons are waiting. Library computers will accessed on a first come, first served basis.

The library does not provide wireless access at this time.

The library’s Internet connection may only be used for library computers/equipment.

Black & white printing is available at a cost of 15¢ per page.

Not at this time. The library is in the process of purchasing and installing filters that meet the laws and requirements set forth by the state and federal governments. When this is complete, the library will have a computer with Internet access available for use by patrons age 12 and over. Patrons under 18 years of age must have a Parent or Legal Guardian sign a Computer Technology Center Use Agreement for them and must assume responsibility for what is accessed by their child.

Children of all ages are encouraged to use the Meadows Valley Public Library for homework, recreational reading, and program attendance and it is our desire to make this important visit both memorable and enjoyable for the child. The library staff realizes that the library will be noisier at busy times and that children by nature can cause more commotion. However, children (whether with parents or not) who are being continually disruptive will be given a warning that he/she must settle down or will be asked to leave the library. Library staff is not expected to assume responsibility for the care of unsupervised children in the library. Therefore, it is the library policy that all children under age eight must be accompanied by a parent or designated responsible person while in the library.

Levels of supervision required:

1. Children under the age of three must always be in close proximity
and within sight of the adult responsible for their safety.

2. Children under the age of eight must be directly supervised by a
parent or responsible caregiver at all times while in the library.

3. Children eight and older may be left unattended providing they are
mature enough to follow library rules and observe proper conduct.
Such children are subject to the same rules of behavior as other
patrons and the same consequences, including being asked to leave
the library.

4. Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a
parent, guardian, or caregiver age 12 or older at all times and in all
areas of the library and its property except when participating in a
library sponsored children’s program, such as Story Time.

In the case of an emergency or unexpected library closing, every reasonable effort will be made by the staff to assist the child in contacting an appropriate adult. If no responsible adult is reached or the child is not picked up within 30 minutes of library closing, library personnel may notify the police to assume custody of the child.
